On Sunday, May 25, 2025, the Children for Children charity run will return for its 10th edition – a heartfelt event that has grown into one of the most meaningful community traditions in the region. The run will take place in front of Skaza’s headquarters (Selo 22, Velenje). This year, the event is held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, who will also attend in person to greet the children and their families.
A decade of charity transforming children’s lives
The event carries a strong mission: "We win when we help each other." Children run for children – for those who need support, opportunities, and encouragement to build a better tomorrow. Over the past nine editions, the run has brought together more than 3,000 children, families, and supporters and raised over €111,250 for children from vulnerable backgrounds.
“When you help, you begin to win. Children for Children is not just an event – it’s a reflection of the values of our community,” says Tanja Skaza, founder of the event, director of the Skaza Institute, and co-owner of Skaza.

Three specific goals of this year’s charity support
This year, the funds raised from the Children for Children run will support:
Alma Foundation – From Alja to Žan, which helps create safer and more inclusive school environments for children struggling with mental health.“Mental health is the foundation of everything – our relationship with ourselves, with school, with others. Children’s distress is increasingly common, yet too often invisible,” emphasizes Ema Randl, project lead.
“When we send the message together – that struggle is not shame – we create a space where children trust and dare to speak. If we want a healthy, creative society, we must lay the foundations today.”
Vidim Cilj Foundation, led by former Alen Kobilica, where sports become a tool for expression, empowerment, and inclusion for children with developmental and intellectual challenges. “Sport is not just movement – it’s freedom, belonging, and proof that you can do it. For children with special needs, it’s a space of dignity and equality,” says Kobilica. “The donation from this run will enable us to continue offering free sports programs that celebrate differences rather than erase them.”
Both organizations highlight the importance of children actively participating in charity – especially when they run for other children.
“When a child runs for someone who can’t – but longs to belong – a bond is created that goes beyond words,” says Kobilica. “Such experiences build empathy, responsibility, and values no classroom can teach,” adds Randl.
The third recipient is Azra, a talented young athlete who will receive Skaza’s development scholarship to support both her academic and sports journey. “Receiving the scholarship means the world to me. It’s proof that someone believes in me and my future. That sense of community gives me the strength to keep going,” says Azra.
More than a run – a celebration of movement, solidarity, and community
In addition to the 200 m and 800 m charity runs, the event will feature a vibrant program for the whole family – including a live performance by the band Game Over, beats by young DJs from Mini DJ Academy, sports games, creative workshops, a prize raffle, and many other fun activities for all generations.
Registration costs €8, and proceeds will go directly to the projects described above.

The Skaza Children for Children charity run reminds us that it’s not the size of your step that matters – but the direction we walk together.
At Skaza, we truly believe: We win when we help each other.
