On October 8 the first Skaza Charity Run Child to Child took place in Velenje. Together with 420 children under age of 14 who attended the charity run, Skaza raised € 5,100 for the local non-governmental organization Association of Friends of Youth Velenje. NGO will use the money to buy children clothing and shoes and give scholarships to some talented children.
Many thanks to all of you who responded to our invitation to run. We are more than happy that you recognized the purpose of our event and helped us to raise the awareness of children that together we are stronger. As we say in Skaza - Every Part Matters!
420 children, € 5,100 for the local children
Around 100 children chose to run a 2-kilometer long distance around the Škalsko lake in Velenje, others, especially younger children decided to run 330-meter-long circuit. Children had to run in pairs and holding each other’s hands when crossing the finish line. Each pair was given a special sticker to place it on a big board. For each pair of children or for each sticker on the board Skaza gave € 10 for charity.
Before the run Skaza decided to donate € 3,000 for Association of Friends of Youth Velenje. After adding another € 2,100 on behalf of children, the NGO was given a sum of € 5,100 to help the children in need.
It is all about teaching children to helping each other
The heart of Skaza Charity Run Child to Child is to promote mutual assistance among children by running in pairs and helping each other to cross the finish line. Raising money for those in need by doing something so ordinary as running is something children will remember for a long time.
Thank you all and see you in 2017.
